Title: Tour de Paris (TX)
Post by Monkeywrangler22 on Jun 20th, 2012, 10:53pm

Anyone else doing the Tour de Paris on July 21st,  this year?  I have read good reviews of it, and it fits in my July calendar, so I registered.  Kicked for the 110k.  Hope to see some of you there!

Sounds like a good opportunity to meet Esbee!!!!   I've never ridden it, but Terrie can't make it to do the tandem, so I may do it solo....

Did the 110k route last year - it was a pretty good ride.  I like some of the nice touches I have only seen there like unmanned water stops between the normal rest stops.  They dropped some water and a sunshade in the event you run out of water between stops.  This was nice as it was definately hot!!

Don't know if I'll make it this year - but here is my link to last year's course:

Be sure to get your pic taken with your bike in front of the Eiffel Tower!

I've just about talked myself into doing this ride.  Guess I'll need to make a hotel reservation since it is over 2 1/2 hours to get there.  Anyone know a good place to stay in Paris?

I can pm you the motel list from my packet, tomorrow. I will be driving up from McKinney early Saturday morning. Hope to get there in time for pancakes!

Well, I guess that I'm just going to stay close to home this weekend.  A/C went out at my rent house, so $425 later it is cool again, but that with a few other out of the ordinary expenses, just means I need to watch the $$$ for a while.

I'll be there on a Cruzbike Silvio.   :-)

I saw a couple trikers, a velomobile (yellow coroplast), John and Ken, and a LWB Rans I didn't recognize.  I think everyone else from RBENT took a shorter route than the 110K but I wouldn't swear to it.  I did the 110K, and was regretting it at about 90k!  I coulda been back in the A/C, having a burger by then, if I had gone the shorter route...

Still it was a great ride, and I have a full write up complete with the obligatory Eiffel Tower pic on my blog (http://www.themonkeywranglersblog.blogspot.com).  Enjoy!

[smiley=popcorn.gif]i am sorry i was not able to attend due to getting used to those new hips- but next year i hope i can do the short ride...you might have seen Jerry Morrell, though...he is the  big guy on his brand new Catrike expedition.
Esbee- susan in paris

I did see a larger guy on a red? Catrike...we said hi on my way to the 110k start line.  I was curious if you had been one of the kind folks lining the streets of town yesterday, cheering the riders on, esbee...I knew you'd just had hip replacements done this summer, so wasn't expecting to see you riding much yet.  But next year, you will have to say hi to my husband Dave--he gets to do TdP next year!

So, how did you do on the Silvio in Paris? How long you been riding the Cruzbike? Do you like it?  We should get together for and all Cruzbike ride sometime!
