Title: Bar End Shifters Post by freakflyer9999 on May 22nd, 2012, 10:52am I just hate twist grip shifters for a number of reasons, but primarily due to my arthritis. I switched my Terratrike to Dura Ace Bar End shifters in friction mode and love them. Now that I have a Bacchetta Strada I want to change out the twist grip shifters that are on it. Thumb shifters have been recommended but I was wondering if anyone is using bar end shifters on a Strada or other recumbent with similar handlebars. If so, how do you like them and what are the pros/cons to such a setup? |
Title: Re: Bar End Shifters Post by aikigreg on May 22nd, 2012, 11:06am I've had them on several highracers, lowracer, etc. For the most part I love them. The only real downside is that if you don't have a lot of leg clearance with your current handlebar setup they may hit your thight on wide turns. Although you can mount them on thumbies and avoid that if need be. I converted to SRAM and have a set of used shimano shifters if you're interested. |

The right Shimano bar end shifter will not be compatible with the SRAM X-9 rear derailleur on your Strada when it's in indexing mode. |
