Riders from various cities and towns around Texas were top finishers in the three long divisions of the 2011 Tour de Cypress bike ride. A total of 195 riders registered for the event. In each of the divisions individually, 71 riders registered for the 100K ride, 62 started the 45 mile ride, 46 were in the 30 mile ride and 16 began the 10 mile ride.
“This is double the riders we have ever had,” stated Diana Duckworth, co-director of the bike ride. “I am very excited about next year’s ride and am very grateful to the community for all of the support they have given us.”

David Starrett of Tyler finished first in the 100K ride. He returned to the square after completing the course in two hours and 54 minutes. Mark Harris of Dallas came in second with a time of three hours and five minutes. Third in the 100K was Randell Prewitt of Pittsburg, who finished in three hours and eight minutes.
Patrick Jumper of Plano was the first to finish the 45 mile ride. He completed the course in two hours and 30 minutes. Paul Cervantes of Mount Pleasant and Brad Asbill of Quinlan came in second and third in the 45 mile ride. Mr. Cervantes finished in two hours and 50 minutes, and Mr. Asbill finished in three hours.
Mac Tichenor and Jeff Hazlett, both of Dallas, were the first and second in the 30 mile ride. They finished in 1 hour and 59 minutes. Third in the 30 mile was Eric Godwin of Sulphur Springs. He finished the course in two hours and five minutes.
