Title: Not sore...fatigued.
Post by JimFPU on Apr 12th, 2012, 10:27am

I almost couldn't get out of bed this morning.  Been exercising (gym workout in the mornings) for two weeks now and riding almost every day.  My 'bent muscles are seeming to get weaker by the day.  I never experienced this on my other bikes.  Anyone else go through this?  My legs aren't sore (like after working at tree climbing or something else that you don't do often), but just fatigued.  It seems I couldn't peddle today if I wanted to.  I also slept harder than I've done in a long while.  Seems like I've heard exercise helps out with all this fatigue stuff, but now I feel not as good as I used to.  I'll probably try and get in a few miles around the neighborhood this afternoon, but I'm not on the bike for a commute today.

Could be a medical issue.  Could be fatigue from too much exercise.  Recovery and recovery nutrition are crucial when doing that many workouts a day.

Ah yes...recovery Thanks Greg.  Coke and a Reeses on order!  [smiley=whistling.gif]

Taking a day of rest to see what happens, still looking forward to the ride with the kids later.

Ah, Jim, Coke & Reeses are hardly 'nutrition'!  But aiki may be right--you may be 'overtraining' at this point.  Ease off or eat a bit more real food, and keep sleeping well (hopefully) and I bet you will improve in short order.  Are you trying to lose weight at the same time?  If so, your metabolism may be in 'survival' or 'conservation' mode where it slows down in order to get you through what it thinks is a period of starvation...

S T R E T C H those legs!

Lots of riding at first needs to be balanced with some simple stretch & hold for a minute or so.

Potassium (bananas) helps too.

Been eating the bananas, I think I was just going crazy.  As far as weight loss, not really a goal but probably could stand to loose a few.  Simple test at the gym showed 22% body fat, which is the high side of OK for my age.  I just really enjoy riding thSXP and am wanting to ride with others that just enjoy the ride and are OK going a bit slower.  I also like the challenge of those that will do that and encourage me to go a bit harder and push it some.  I'll get there but right now i'm trying to remember it about the ride...the speed and stamina will come.
