Muenster doesn't start their ride till 11AM, to give all us Dallas people a chance to drive up there...  Unfortunately, I can't make the ride this year, due to a choral committment...

I keep debating between that one and walking the McKinney relay for life.  Looking at the picture, Muenster might be winning out, (which means doing the Frisco relay for life).

Will be there with bells. The Muenster ride has one of the fastest descents in N Texas. The little road on the backside of St. Jo will test your courage as well as your intelligence.  Several times I have visited the mid 50's. Clearly, my intelligence is losing.

Driving up from Austin and returning in the same day. Doubtless my enthusiasm is greater now than at the end of that XL day.

So Rat, what bike are you bring up?

I'll be there.  Thanks for the heads up on the sweet downhill.  Have hit 55 on a road bike before, I wonder if there is a new speed record in my near future!

I want to ride with some friends from the area that I don't see often. If my only thought was to see how quickly I could travel, I would bring the Apache. Since a modest amount of social interaction will be expected; I may still bring the Apache. [smiley=cheesy.gif]

Does anyone remember if there are showers? I do not think so, but it has been a few years since my last visit.

Will Steve S. from Garland be doing the ride?

I filmed that descent last year hitting 48, one-handed, praying my tires/wheels would hold....  Would have hit 50, but braked briefly at the top before letting it coast...  The front end of the Xstream is too light to want to get into the mid-50s...!!!

I never take that hill at high speed, I've already given one hip to science and don't relish giving the other :)

The idea of having a blowout on my car, at 50mph,  isn't something I'd look forward to but not nearly as life-threatening as having it happen on a bike. As they used to say on Hill Street Blues: lets be careful out there...   ;D

So, FLZ, where is this video you speak of?  I wish to live vicariously, since I am not doing Muenster this weekend.  Besides if it is scary enough to view, then maybe Dave will decide discretion is the better part of valor and use his brakes and not try for a new land-speed record!

Nope!  Not going to happen!  I've scouted the hill in question, (I think) via google.  I'll be running a GoPro on the bars so I won't have to one hand it.

Then what's the point!?   [smiley=evil.gif]

I once did 41.2 (or something like that) early in the morning and all I could see was the moonlit road in front of me.  The lights I was using were nothing more that position lights...I was peddling like a madman (not even clipped in) on a 25 year old Infinity with my GEBE screaming!  What a blast!

My best has been 55 mph on my old DF race bike years ago when I lived in Wisconsin, that was right before the Mercedes driver pulled out in front of me, I had no choice but to just drift the bike into the other lane and pass him.  The look on his face was priceless.

You won't have any question in your mind when you get there. It is a freak compared to everything else. I'll warn you, the last time I was down that particular decline the asphalt was crap. I doubt seriously if Montague county has spent any money on improvements. It would be a hellishly poor choice for laying down some personal parchment.
