Title: Slow easy Saturday Rbent ride in Ft. Worth?
Post by aikigreg on Feb 22nd, 2012, 8:20pm

I've been off the bike except for very short rides for a long time, and trying to get back into it with some nice easy trips.  I'm planning on going out this Saturday about 11am from my apartment which is right next to a trinity river trail parking lot.  Planning on going on the trail paths to Benbrook lake park, then through the park for a while and turning around.  Then I'll head back past my partment and lunch at Time Love's Woodshed Smokehouse.  Anyone is welcome, but I won't be setting much of a fast pace.  Let me know if you're coming and I'll make reservations.

What is your idea of "not much of a fast pace"?  What is your guess on that distance - I have never ridden there before.  Never rode with you before but I am under the impression that you used to roll at a 20+ avg.

Now just have to figure out how to get the grass cut and get in on this ride and lunch.  I'll check back before Saturday if I can figure out how to make it happen.

14-15mph on flat ground.  I figure the total distance to be less than 40 miles, but you can always just take a long extended break at one of the many places in the park to make it as short as you'd like, essentially.  You can always bring a book  [smiley=thumbsup.gif]

I'm thinking I'll ride over from my house and join you, but I reserve the right to change my mind and go fishing instead.

It's going to be a pretty late lunch if you're going to start at 11:00 am and ride 40 miles first.

I'm not averse to leaving at 10 if y'all want to.  I'll likely not get up till 9 in any case.   [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]  It looks like it'll be a great day but pretty chilly till about 11.

Not enough hours in the day to get it all done - I'm going to have to take a rain check on riding over in Ft Worth.  I'll try to catch you next time.

FYI, it was 36 miles total.  Great day for it.
