Title: Crank-forward seat adjustments
Post by Opus the Poet on Aug 8th, 2011, 12:28am

I have been trying different seat positions on the 2008 Fusion for the best balance of knee and butt comfort. So far I have only found the adjustment that caused maximum pain. As the seat is angled more nose-down I get less pain in my backside but more pain in my knees. If I was a seasoned wedgie rider  the seat would not be any problem and neither would my knees, but going from 'bents to CF I don't get enough support from the seat to prevent knee pain until I have passed the point where there isn't enough cushion to prevent butt pain. I have put almost 2400 miles on the bike and while I like it for short urban commutes it just doesn't work much past 20 miles/day. Not that I'm going to get rid of this bike, this is the nicest bike I have had in many a year, and other than the full Campy equipped show bike I built in 2004 it's the best-equipped bike I have ever ridden.

That's essentially why I sold the Zenetik to Eddie...  crank-forward and sloped seat or not, it was just not the recumbent comfort that I had gotten used to for the past several years.  I suppose if I did MTB trail stuff it would be an decent improvement, but....

Have you tried the standard "padded short"???

I think I might have one pair left from before my wreck. As I recall I had 3 pair before the wreck, one pair was cut off while they were treating me at the scene (they ruined my favorite pair of shorts and my second-favorite jersey) so ther should be 2 pairs of padded shorts around the house somewhere.
