Title: Trinity Trail Post by Cookie on May 5th, 2011, 9:40am OK, here we go again. [smiley=bounce.gif] I have heard through the grapevine that there is some interest in doing the Trinity Trail from Benbrook YMCA to Ft. Worth stock yard and grab a burger this Saturday. [smiley=chinscratch.gif] I am going to make it official [smiley=rolleyes.gif] We will be meeting at the YMCA parking lot in Benbrook at 9 AM and will head north on the Trinity Trail to the Ft.W. stock yard. We should get there in time to see the Long Horn cattle drive and then have a great LUNCH. [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif] See you Saturday Jerry |
Title: Re: Trinity Trail Post by jman on May 5th, 2011, 10:43am I can meet up with others in Oakmont Park, it is only 2.5 miles from my apartment in River Ranch. What sort of speed does the group usually ride at? I can trike or ride my Burley depending on speeds of group. [smiley=cheers.gif] |
Title: Re: Trinity Trail Post by diannalightning on May 5th, 2011, 10:47am Jerry, I won't be able to make this one as I'm heading out to see my mom. Have a good ride. |

Title: Re: Trinity Trail Post by Patti on May 5th, 2011, 12:20pm Won't Mayfest have the trail closed through Trinity Park? |
Title: Re: Trinity Trail Post by Cookie on May 5th, 2011, 12:56pm :-[, Pattie, I haven't heard about Mayfest closure. I am open for any updates on this. We may have to reschedule. [smiley=sad.gif] Jerry |

Oops I forgot about that, it was on Fox News this morning ,I hadn't had my coffee yet so it went right in one ear and out the other. |
Title: Re: Trinity Trail Post by Patti on May 5th, 2011, 2:55pm I don't know if it will be that way this year, but it was definitely closed last year. I'm not familiar with a reasonable way to get past that area without finding yourself in some really heavy traffic, but you all may know the area better than I do. By the way, I'd love to join you if I can. I'll have to check the family schedule tonight. |

Title: Re: Trinity Trail Post by Cookie on May 5th, 2011, 5:18pm I sent an email to the Mayfest office and asked if we would be able to ride through the park on the trail. We may have to reschedule our ride . :'( I will post as soon as I hear from them. Jerry |
Title: Re: Trinity Trail Post by jman on May 6th, 2011, 3:58pm I'm guessing no one has heard anything yet about access to TT through the park yet. Guess I'll check in the morning. |
Title: Re: Trinity Trail Post by Cookie on May 6th, 2011, 7:24pm No one from the Mayfest office has returned my email or phone call. Talked with Tom and Ken, we are going to start the Trinity Trail as planned at 9 AM at the YMCA in Benbrook and head to Ft. Worth. If we are stopped at the Mayfest, so be it. If not, stock yard here we come. [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif] Jerry |

Title: Re: Trinity Trail Post by power_bent on May 12th, 2011, 10:28am Hey guys got an email from JoElla wanted me to paste and post on here what she has to say. I WANTED TO THANK EVERYONE FOR ALLOWING ME TO RIDE WITH YOU THIS PAST SATURDAY FROM BENBROOK TO COWTOWN. I REALLY ENJOYED IT . COMING BACK WAS TOUGH ONCE MY KNEES AND HIPS STARTING HURTING BAD. A BIG THANKS TO KEN FOR HELPING ME UP THAT LAST HILL! I HOPE I WASN’T TOO MUCH OF AN INCONVIENENCE. THANKS FOR THE GREAT DAY!! |
Title: Re: Trinity Trail Post by jman on May 12th, 2011, 10:48am JoElla, it was fun riding with you, sorry I wasn't there the last few miles to lend a hand myself. My last climb was a very slow walk mostly and taking breaks at little spots where there was still a little shade ;D I was surprised to learn that this was your longest ride, sure couldn't tell it on the trail. Next time, I'll come on my EZ 3 delta trrike so if I poop out I will have a nice lounge chair under me that will make resting more fun. I was very hot by the time I got home and ran out of anything to drink the last 3 very long miles, so once I got inside my place, I made a B line straight to the tub just to soak in cool water for abt 30 min. [smiley=bath.gif] I will make sure to carry nuf cold refreshments and some cloth wipes to help from over heating [smiley=jawdrop.gif] This was my longest ride of this season and it helped me remember the hot weather riding routine to assist me the rest of this summer. |
