Title: Mesquite ride - successful
Post by FlyingLaZBoy on Mar 19th, 2011, 3:56pm

Had a nice turnout for a windy adventure...  John S., John F., Steve S., Jay, Kenny, Corsa Ken, Tony, Barb H (on a DF), and me...  We battled the headwinds and hills for 25 miles down to Seagoville, said the heck with the 100K, and turned around!!!  No flats, no mechanicals, no car incidents, and 25 miles of tailwind on the way back makes for a successful jaunt...

Oh, and we had some mild entertainment when we got to Seagoville...

Thanks for coming out!

I used to hate that ride because of the hills on it but felt good today. After we turned around it was like turning on the electric motor.

Since V3 Kenny participated in the ride, we had the expected, loose-dog encounter. Three dogs, led by an aggressive, red Chow Chow. Don't know what is about Kenny and dogs.  :D

Thanks, Paul. Nice ride.

Hahahaha, the donkeys!  Looks like you all had a good time despite the canine intrusion.

Our dog encounter was great entertainment. Kenny was yelling "Bad Dog", or something, at the Chow Chow, and I was laughing my head off.

This was my first organized ride on my recumbent (1st bent I've ever owned).  I think I would have had a much easier time on the hills if I slept the previous night or had breakfast.  I didn't even have anything in my water bottles for the first 12 miles.  Ended up riding 40 miles.   Best part was no neck / shoulder / butt pain after riding.

Welcome, Yakapo -- but I think you've mistakenly thought this was a discussion thread for last weekend's Mesquite Rally...   ;D   This was about a ride we did a few months ago!!!  But glad you enjoyed the Mesquite Rally -- sounds like you definitely "get" the recumbent advantage!
