Title: Sat. Mar 19th,  Mesquite to Combine 100K
Post by FlyingLaZBoy on Mar 15th, 2011, 1:12pm

OK, this coming Saturday looks promising, weather-wise...  so let's do an 8:15AM rollout from Poteet High School in Mesquite, to do a 100K down through Seagoville to Combine and back.  Rolling pace of 16-17mph, with three stops, no drops, probable final average 14-15mph...  This should get us back by 1:00 or so...  There's a bit of hill climbing involved, be forewarned!

Park in the far northwest corner in front of the high school, on Galloway.

Here's the route to Seagoville for a 50 miler

Here's the extra loop to Combine, to make it a 100K if we want...

If there's a group that wants to cut short from Seagoville for a 50 miler, that can be done as well.

Saturday looks like a VERY nice morning to ride...  south winds, 60s temps with solid cloud cover, but no rain...

Anyone else joining us riding from Mesquite Poteet?  We're not going to burn up the roads, no matter how fast Kenny wants to push that V3...   [smiley=runover.gif]

I'm thinking of doing this route again likely including the additional miles to Combine on Saturday morning.  I'm going to map it out and attempt to follow it using my Garmin 705 so we will see how I do since I'm not familiar with these roads at all.  Anyone interested in coming along?  Even better if you know the way in the event the Garmin lets me down.  I'd like to roll out from the high school at 7am and keep a 14-16 avg pace.

Here is the route as I have drawn it:  http://ridewithgps.com/routes/490879

That's the correct route, and at Mile 38 you take a right to go over to Combine -- there's a gas station on the left corner that's a handy place for a break.   Can't join in this time, due to prior committments...
