Title: Wheels???
Post by system-f on Jul 13th, 2010, 12:01am

I have been looking for wheels and have some recumbent specific questions.  My bike is a Sun T-hawk with a 451 front and 700 (135 width) rear for those that do not know.

I must have a rear disc hub.

What about this wheel set? (will probably have to call for hub specifics)  http://www.everybicycletire.com/shopping/pc-442-54-velocity-uriel-recumbent-wheelset.aspx    24 spokes on the rear sure does seem kind of weak.

Cartridge or cup and cone bearings for the cone?  Does this really matter as long as the cartridge bearings are easily replaceable?

Just had a 32-spoke, 26", rear disk hub wheel built up for my Baron by Dallas Bicycle Works. Shimano Deore hub (cartridge bearings) and Velocity Aeroheat rim. Cost was $164, including taping of rim. You might check with them, before you mail order a wheelset. Cartridge bearings don't require periodic adjustments.
