Title: Tornado Alley 100
Post by mleuck on Jul 10th, 2010, 8:58pm

I figured the Peach Pedal might get rained out so instead I drove almost 400 miles up to Joplin Missouri to do the Tornado Alley ride. Maybe 500 riders, weather was nice and sunny and started in the 70's and ended up in the upper 80's. the route extended down western Missouri all the way down to Arkansas over to Oklahoma then a nub into Kansas.

This was a fun ride! Road surface for most of the route was excellent, had some big hills but they never bothered me, got left by the breakaway group but outran the main Peloton. I don't know why but it was a strong ride all the way unlike the Tulsa Tough, beautiful scenery ranging from small mountains to flatlands. Rest stops were okay although part of the ride was on some busy highways. Intersection control was non-existent. Originally planned on doing the 77 mile route but instead rode the full century.

Anyone end up doing the Peach Pedal?

2nd one in less than a month even, you had to be there as this one was one of the best I've ever done. 100k's are still more fun speed-wise tho.
