Title: Carbon Seats
Post by mleuck on May 28th, 2010, 1:07am

Some guy in Poland is selling Kevlar-reinforced carbon seats (medium size) if anyone is interested, I recently bought one for $169 and it's narrower than my large Optima seat but half the weight at 500 grams. Odd thing is he always sells another one for $319.

Here's the one for $169

And the one for $319

Also some guy in the UK is selling a standard fiberglass version for $70

Nice guy, good response to email and pretty well packed for shipping.    I have one of these carbon seats in the attic(new never mounted) if someone wants it.    I'll take whatever the going rate for it is.

Those are CCK seats. I had one on my Roadster.

and if remember correctly, John Schlitter used them on at least one of his weight weenie carbon aeros or corsas.  The dude that makes them worked for Kamil at velokraft and left to do it on his own as a side business.  There is some argument over wether he is using his own design or not, but I don'r exactly trust Kamil anyway about a lot of stuff.

Yes, John used them for his solo RAAM ride. They're not super stiff, and can be flexed (yes, Thomas, you really did see mine flex that day at Glen Rose; I checked afterwards). They are pretty narrow. I liked mine on the Roadster, but the Euromesh on my Corsa has always been more comfortable for long rides for me.

Most likely a large, let me dig it down and see if it's labeled.

Just got an email from the guy selling the seats, the expensive version is lighter with stronger carbon fiber for identical durability

He's only offering medium sizes but can build the larger size although he hasn't yet

Mark, Sent you an email.  I dug it out, not sure what size,  most likely a large as I waited a bit for a different size than was listed.
