As stated elsewhere, the standard "filter foam" pad on my Xstream Hoagie seat isn't really doing the job - especially on the bottom part of the seat frame. It just compresses down to nothing... At Dan S's suggestion (led by Shellene), I went to Home D and got a foam "gardening kneeling pad" that is EXACTLY the same width as the Hoagie seat frame, and some extra velcro, and put it on last night, under the filter foam... I shaved off a nice taper in the top section, where it comes about halfway up the seat frame, and it feels pretty good, at least initially. I'll give a ride report when I can put a few miles on it, and post a couple pics.

I use wally world camping foam under mine. It's around a half inch thick and is Bacchetta blue. I probably don't need as much padding on the lower seat as you though, since mine is probably more reclined.

How is the Xstream with the sling mesh seat?

I got the Walmart provided Bud Pad on the Barcroft and couldn't be happier. Have enough to do another pad or one double thick one for the $5 investment. I run just the pad by itself with no cover or mesh on top. --Nelson.

Very nice - the slingmesh is a very comfortable seat -- however, I have to raise the handlebar riser up an inch or so compared to where I have it using the Hoagie, to decrease knee/thigh interference with the grips in turns. But that's no big deal. I have it about a 45 degree seatback angle, and yet I can still get a good push against the seatback due to the pedal position. On the StratusXP, the lower pedal position resulted in pushing myself up the seatback if I reclined it too much. Not so, here.

The seatfoam mod on the Hoagie is definitely an improvement... Had to stop three times in the first few miles to get the seat truly re-adjusted, but it feels pretty good now!
