Title: Heart of Texas Rally Post by hubzone37 on Nov 22nd, 2009, 5:53pm I was reading the Catrike forum and read about this ride coming up from texpuq, Texas Catrike Rallies in Spring 2010 The Heart of Texas Rally (HOT) will be the weekend of April 16-18. This is going to be one MAJOR FUN EVENT. Mike at Easy Street Recumbents in Austin is hosting this inaugural event. And he is planning to pull all the stops out for the Catrikers. This is a DO NOT MISS happening. It is also in the planning stages, but we are looking to have a time trial at a SUPER neat Veloway in Austin. We'll all ride to dinner on Saturday night. Information and help sessions. A ride through downtown Austin Sunday morning. This HOT rally will lead up to Mike's super neat Bent Event for all bent riders on the afternoon of Sunday, April 18th . Music, food, lots of bent heads. This is going to be a MAJOR fun time. If you are able to get to Texas, this is the one thing you don't want to miss. There will be a fee, but trust me, it will be worth every penny. T shirts, rides, food. Austin rocks. re: http://catrike.yuku.com/topic/4406?page=1 |

If you have never ridden at the Veloway in Austin, you will be in for a treat. It is a 3.1 mile long, 23 foot wide loop with multiple hairpins and a 90 degree right turn into a climb. After the climb there is a slight descent into a sweeping right hander where you can carry lots of speed. The final hairpin is a good place to crash your bike into the weeds, as is the final "S" curve before the finish. [smiley=injured.gif] It is only open to bicycles and skates, no vehicles, walkers, joggers or dogs allowed. My best TT lap time was 9'16" :) |
Title: Re: Heart of Texas Rally Post by Patti on Nov 27th, 2009, 7:29am Here is a little more information for anyone interested: The post below was in the e-newsletter from Easy Street Recumbents (to subscribe, email Mike at service@easystreetrecumbents.com and asked him to tack you on to the list). This is concerning the HOT Rally in April 2010. Heart of Texas Catrike rally Easy Street will be hosting Texas' first triker rally on April 16-18, 2010, leading up to our annual 'Bent Event scheduled for April 18^th . All trikers are welcome, but Catrike owners seem to have the most /espirit de corps/, with a history of clubbing together like this. Kind of like Harley riders, only much quieter and less rigidly gendered. Details are still coming together, but this will be a paid admission all-weekend event. We'll be working on discounted hotel accommodations near the shop for out of town guests and meal deals. There will be some short rides in Austin, some goofing about at the Austin Veloway, freebies, a raffle, maintenance workshops, a groovy T-shirt (in a color to match your trike) and other special stuff that you'll only know about when you pre-register. Stay tuned… |
