Title: TTTT direction suggestions Post by FlyingLaZBoy on Sep 24th, 2009, 11:02am Here are directional and parking suggestions fromt the TTTT organizers, for those who are planning to go down there, either to ride, crew, or just hang out and watch/cheer... Parking and driving instructions will be different depending on which race you will be doing; whether or not you are crewing yourself or have crew; whether or not you have a hotel room or you are camping, or sleeping in your car; whether you are a solo rider or you are on a team and whether you are volunteering and riding, or only riding, or only volunteering.... For everyone that is not doing the Tejas 500, there will be riders on the course when you arrive, so please do not use Van Zandt Road to enter or exit there is a race in progress. We have more than enough parking if we do it right. We would like to have most of the 50 Park - Parking lot spaces, emptied of most cars by 10:00 am on Saturday, so that these parking spaces can be used for the arriving 6 hour, and Sprint Racers. 12 Hour racers will be driving in about 4:30 am, unless they have booked a hotel, please be careful parking it will be dark, drive slow, we will try to have someone with a flashlight to direct you, don't run them over :-) If you are racing The 26 mile Sprint, You just show up early enough to not be rushed, you park in the Park, entering the Park from the north off of Hwy 67, it is the driveway just west (next to) The Sonic Drive In. If you are racing The 12 Hour or 6 Hour and have crew that will be using the "Neutral Support Area" for Hand-Up's, please park at the Park Parking lot, following the directions above. If you are racing The 24 hour, The 12 Hour or 6 Hour and will need access to your car, please follow these directions. If you are driving into Glen Rose from the East on Hwy 67, please turn left at the 144 traffic light as you start to enter the Town of Glen Rose, then make your first right, by the water feature as soon as you pass the gas station, up and over the hill, when you get to the bottom of the hill Brett Butler Drive, we hope to have a parking attendant there to help you find a "Pit Area". If you are crewing yourself, you may place an ice chest on the right side of Van Zandt about 5 feet from the pavement, so you can be off the driving surface just long enough to stop quickly grab bottles and continue. Be very careful when entering back on to the road, other riders may not be stopping every lap. If you are crewing yourself out of a vehicle you will get a "Pit Area" along the left (north) side of the Van Zandt or along either side of Brett Butler's Drive, to park you vehicle and or set up your tent, "Pit Areas" will be approximately 9 foot wide by 30 feet deep. Make sure there is room to get yourself off the driving surface while being crewed. Please go to The TTTT Website, and Click on the Maps and directions then go to the bottom and click on "Parking arrangements" to see an over view, or use this link http://www.tt24tt.com/PDF/Pit-Start_Finish_4.pdf If you are staying at a hotel, and are not using your vehicle to crew yourself from, or have crew that will be using the Neutral Support Area" and not a " Pit Area", please park at the hotel, entering the Hotel parking lots from Hwy 67, and walking to the Park, for registration. There is a hotel on each side of Hwy 67, and plenty of parking spaces. If you are camping in the park, and crewing yourself from your campsite you will need to access your campsite from the Park Road, not from Van Zandt. If you are a TTTT Volunteer and will not need frequent access to your car, please follow these directions. If you are driving into Glen Rose from the East on Hwy 67, please turn left at the 144 traffic light as you start to enter the Town of Glen Rose, then make your first right, by the water feature as soon as you pass the gas station, up and over the hill and park on the side of the road before you get to the bottom of the hill. Yea, clear as mud, but we are trying. |
