Title: Small Q-Rings Post by Hurricane Dan on Aug 3rd, 2009, 6:28pm I was looking on Angletech and they show to have a 27T Q-Ring. I thought they were unavailable...... |
Title: Re: Small Q-Rings Post by power_bent on Aug 3rd, 2009, 8:24pm Hey Dan, there still some out there floating around.I didn't relize that I had a big Bio Pace rings ( 48x38x28) handy. What I had on the bike was 50x40x30 regular rings So install Bio Pace on my bike. We'll see what happen tomorrow. Later Thomas Jenkins [smiley=dbanana.gif] |
Title: Re: Small Q-Rings Post by Hurricane Dan on Aug 3rd, 2009, 9:47pm Let me know how it goes. I've read quite a bit of controversy about the orientation of the Biopace chainrings and you can't just put them 90 degrees out for a recumbent. Your only choice would be 72. |

Why not call Kelvin and make sure it's still in stock? I run 26T on my Rotors and that is one sweet crank! 35 mph headwind, I am still cruising along. I would think a 27 Q ring would be well worth the price. I'd stay away from cheap imitations because even if it was exactly the same I believe we should invest in research when it is successful. Rotor did all the research then the imitators come along. I consider this sort of spending an investment in future improvements to my ride. |
Title: Re: Small Q-Rings Post by Hurricane Dan on Aug 4th, 2009, 3:55pm I'm still up in the air about the Q-Rings. I just know that a couple individuals were short a small chainring and thought one of them might be interested. I'm looking into the O,symetric chainrings. For the technically minded, read the pdf here: http://www.noncircularchainring.be/ |
Title: Re: Small Q-Rings Post by Hull 697 on Aug 5th, 2009, 1:46pm I was ordering something from Kelvin today and asked him about the 27 tooth Q rings. He thought the 27 replaced the 30 tooth. |
Title: Re: Small Q-Rings Post by Bud_Bent on Aug 5th, 2009, 7:17pm I have a 30T q-ring, if anyone is interested. It's like new, was only used on Sunday afternoons by a little old man with lung issues ( I should sell used cars, huh). |
Title: Re: Small Q-Rings Post by Hurricane Dan on Aug 5th, 2009, 9:17pm Bud, I thought you had the Q-Rings on your bike. Just out of curiosity, what are you running as a small chain ring now? |

I love the q-rings, but I'm too feeble for a 30T granny gear these days. I have 26T's on the Corsa and Roadster and a 24T on the SXP. If someone has a 27T q-ring to trade for the 30T, that would work. |

I couldn't agree more. I asked PCF to change the 30T to a 26T. Now I think I will order the 27T from Angletech. |
Title: Re: Small Q-Rings Post by Hull 697 on Aug 7th, 2009, 1:00am I much prefer to state that I am too wise and foresighted to have ever had anything BUT a 26 tooth on my Rotors. |
Title: Re: Small Q-Rings Post by Opus the Poet on Aug 7th, 2009, 6:39pm I guess now is when I act all superior and say the granny on the Fusion is a 39? With a 34-11 cassette? |
Title: Re: Small Q-Rings Post by Richard on Aug 8th, 2009, 10:26am The one thing I miss on my old home made bike was the 27 front and 34 rear. The gearing was from a mountain bike I cannabalized. When you get to that "grunt" angle, it sure does help. RichardC |
