Title: New Texas Time Trial Course
Post by Killer Bee on Aug 2nd, 2009, 5:25pm

Spread the word, there is a NEW & IMPROVED Texas Time Trial course for this years event. The course is a 26.34 mile loop ,which starts in downtown Glen Rose(it's 26+ miles of the Goatneck course). Wow, hotels, stores, & restaurants at the start/finish?

There are 11 turns(no big deal), 4-10% grade hills. Total amount of climbing is 1,200'(500' more than Cleburne). It's more challenging than the existing TT course in Cleburne, BUT LESS traffic & oil field/limestone trucks.  [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]

TX-DOT has struck again, they laid the WORST chip-seal on the the majority of the existing time trial course.

I think this move will certainly improve this event now & in the future.

There's a post on the LSR forum as well(see below)

Fellow TTTT racers, volunteers, and supporters, of the 2009 Texas Time Trials, we have opted to change this year’s TTTT Venue. We will be moving the Start finish a few miles west to Glen Rose Texas. This change has been prompted by a route that has lighter traffic, less dogs, smoother road surfaces, 24 hour stores, better bathrooms, close restaurants and hotels and many more amenities. Details will be on The Texas Time Trials website www.tt24tt.com soon, thank you Todd. The new loop is a little longer (about 6 miles ) and a little hillier ( about 7 feet per mile ). You may be happy to know  that the new Start / Finish location is within walking distance of a Sonic and a hotel. Please take the time to join our TTTT Discussion group by clicking the bottom left tool bar on the TTTT Website. The new route can be viewed at this bikely link    http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/328947    Come out and set a new course record. Thank you all

Guess Steve's not going to throw down that first sub-50 minute lap time after all!!!   :D

Actually, that's great news about the new course, and sad news about the old course...

I posted Steve's note on BikeJournal's forum, and BROL...

Paul thanks for forwarding the info along.  I want to see the person that throw out a 50 minute lap on this course(6 miles longer, more turns ,& more climbing).  The 10% grade hill on FM 200 is huh, interesting(anyone that has done the Goatneck pay ride knows what hill I speak of-Ugh!).

Yes, it is great news. No more lime/oil field service truck to dodge at night! For those doing the 500 mile event, that means you get to do this hill 19X's. Oh,what fun!

And services at the start/finish line? That will be real nice!

If texans (especially texas cyclists) don't work to put a stop to the wholesale destruction of their public roads by txdot, there won't be many left to ride before long.
