Title: Interestingly enough....
Post by aikigreg on Jul 31st, 2009, 12:04am

I'm jonesing for an upright.  My top speed has seemed to go downhill over the last two years, partially I think because I'm 100% bent now.  I'm thinking a fun ss/fixie with the flip-flop hub migth make for some good training and grocery getter.  I've been waiting for a good price on a zenetik and it's just not happening, so what the heck.

Well the nice thing is usually you can find a fast upright pretty cheap compared to fast bent.
I scan adds regularly looking for deals, what size do you need? I'll shoot you a link if I see something.

A few years ago I scored a Waterford made Paramount with Dura Ace components for $400, and sold it for $950, and had similar luck with a Bridgestone RB-1, bought it for $250 and sold it for $750.

I sometimes regret selling the Paramount, but it helped fund the Corsa, and I love my Corsa.

Take Care,
Nelson.

CHEAP.  I'm not planning on taking it anywhere other than the grocery store or movie theater or something like that.  Maybe some trail riding.  Hell, I looked at the 399 dollar performance stuff and thought "naaah, too much."

 I hear ya brother!

I once bought my wife a 3-speed at a Yard Sale for $5 while I was out for a run with my daughter.  I made her ride it home.
My wife still won't part with it, despite having a brand new Electra Townie to ride.

On my to do list after the TTT, is to fix up a SS 29er for trail riding.  It will be cheap.
I have the Trek for grocery runs, a trailer to attach to the Trek if I need more space than the panniers provide.
I got the Trek for $100, and the trailer for $20 so it can be done.
