Just a note, the LSR group is starting the Italy brevet at a 5:00AM departure, due to the impending heat...   So don't be late, sleepyheads!!!   :P

I think another reason was to avoid the tour de italia rush.. In fact I think they rerouted the brevets to avoid early birds.

C'mon EV, you know you love Italy,Tx especially in the summer heat. You remember the 200k route, it's the same route as last years. You can compare the corn fields from last years to this years.

I had so much fun with the heat on last week's 200k, I just can't turn down a 300k in this weekend's loverly weather.

While I'd love to take some photos to compare and contrast the differences in the crops my wife will be returning from a 6 day 5 night trip to North Little Rock Arkansas on Friday evening so I think I'd get into a fair bit of trouble if the first thing I did was leave at 3am to get to a 200 or 300k down in italy.

As much as I dislike a ride start this early that's an hour from my house, especially having to carry light and battery that will be used only for the first ~45 minutes of the ride, I think I'm probably going to do the 200K...  Don't think I'm up to a 300 at the moment, even with a south tailwind on the return.

Well, it's Peggy's birthday(I ain't saying how old) & our wedding anniversary(24 years). So how are we celebrating...a beautiful 300K ride in Italy....Texas.

Well, you could always do without the lights, and just start a little late.  If you leave at 6 AM you'd have 2 hours to cover the 28.2 miles to the next control.

No matter how I respond to that statement, it will be wrong(on all levels),so I won't . [smiley=shrug.gif]
Of course you always look on the RUSA waiver & see what age Peggy declares.

I wouldn't trust those things since I myself have put the wrong age on them by accident. I either copied the one from the line above or I actually forgot how old I was  [smiley=beer.gif]

I used to race with a guy who got younger every year we raced, at least according to the results.  I never did check to see what type of picture he had in the attic though.

I'm not going to do the Italy brevet after all...  the "burden to benefit" ratio appears to be way out of whack, especially since I would probably be doing most of the last 2/3 solo.  I think I'll be riding the GDB airport ride from home and back, instead.  A 3 hour-later departure, and a 3-hour earlier return...   ;)

Enjoy, and y'all be safe out there, especially in the midday sun...   [smiley=vrolijk_1.gif]
