We had a very nice turnout -- 20 people, by my count, including Rodney's DF riding friend. 'Twas a beautiful morning, not too hot and not too windy!!!

The West group had 9 participants... we did a good mix of speed ranges, flats and climbing, some sightseeing, some inadvertent splitting up and regrouping, a rest stop at a Las Colinas coffee shop and a gas station, some sprinting, saw some handcyclists (including Cheryl S.) on the Campion Trail, and saw a motorcycle training class going on in a large parking lot, and just generally had a good 37 miles with no flats or mechanicals, with a ~15.25 average... It was a mostly low-traffic ride, with minimal stress and good conversation. We made it back about 11:30, after being advised that the Casual group was running late due to a flat problem, about 10 minutes before the Casual group arrived.

Afterwards, there was some test riding going on in the parking lot, including lots of interest in Barry's new ICE trike!! I would guess that Rodney's friend will be getting 'bent REAL soon, in one fashion or another...

This was followed by a fun lunch at Genghis Grill, a new discovery for some people.

I know the West group enjoyed the morning -- I hope the North group did the same. Thanks again to Mark for leading that group!

Paul,

Enjoyed the West ride very much. Particularly, the mini tour of Las Colinas. Looking forward to the next "Cruise" ride. Since I had never been in REI, I opted to go there with several other riders, instead of the Grill. Found a small-billed riding cap I have been looking for for use under my helmet.

New Hip? LOL! How is it you take great over-the-shoulder pictures without even trying?

Good ride, everyone. Thanks for hosting this, Paul. It was great to see everyone; we don't get to do this often enough. Nice to see Mark L back on his bike.

Thank for putting that together and leading the ride. It was good to see Mark L on the ride and ride with him for more then 100ft or so. I did get a little sneak peek earlier in the week when I yelled out as he passed by and he pulled in to my driveway for a quick chat.
I was concerned when you first mentioned the name of the lunch destination but it turned out to be really good and the company wasn't half bad ;) Turned out to be the perfect food to calm my stomach. Of course this little surprise find at the cafe was nice too! I haven't seen a non-diet raspberry snapple since I lived in Connecticut.

I didn't think about it till afterwards but yup it appears my face is very well hidden by my carbon spider visor. Seems I forgot not only to take the helmet light off by the antenna too :)
