Title: RBENT "Cruise" Ride, Sat May 30th Post by FlyingLaZBoy on May 20th, 2009, 9:46am With the airport loop all messed up, I'm going to change up the prior concept of the RBENT club ride for Saturday the 30th... RIDE: North Dallas "Cruise" Ride DATE/TIME: Sat May 30th, 8:30 AM Rollout MEETING LOCATION: REI, at Welch and 635 -- parking lot on the east side of the building ROUTE: Two Routes -- one "North" up towards 190 and Preston, ~25 miles, and one "West" out through Carrollton and into Las Colinas and back ~35 miles. The "North" route is intended to be casual pace, no drop ride, with rolling speeds of 12-14 mph. The "West" route is intended to be a faster pace, rolling at ~16-18, but again, no drop. Maps will be provided for both routes, and we will basically be following the "GDB" routes that are used in the "TEBR" ride. There are places within both rides for faster sections and looping back if people want to kick it up occasionally, but the overall intent is to keep the groups together as much as possible, to enjoy each others' company!!! Capt. (Mark) Colletti and I talked last night, and he will probably lead the North group, since he lives up in that area and knows it quite well. I will lead the West group. We will all meet back at REI when finished, and determine a good place for lunch. |

Title: Re: RBENT "Cruise" Ride, Sat May 30th Post by FlyingLaZBoy on May 26th, 2009, 5:33pm Had an idea for something to add to this Saturday's get-together... Can we spend 30-45 minutes or so after everyone gets done riding doing a "Here, try my bike!" session? Might be a good opportunity to let others in the group try particular bikes or trikes, at least around the REI parking lot... If some people can bring platform pedals and a pedal wrench, and swap out after the main ride,we can get around the "clipless" issue... I'll bring mine, and volunteer the StratusXP for anyone who wants to ride it... ALSO -- Can we got a show of some responses as to who is planning to attend, in the first place? Weather forecast looks pretty good!!!! |

Title: Re: RBENT "Cruise" Ride, Sat May 30th Post by irodguy on May 26th, 2009, 9:52pm I am a definite maybe, got hit my some kind of bug Friday and still coughing. At least the doc assured me I am not contiguous and not swine flu. I might be sending a friend however. He is currently riding road bikes... but is really interested in getting a bent. Evidently his youngest is now through school so he has toy money. His name is Bob Lane he works for Dart and is here in town on contract. My wife and him met playing golf and he went to dinner with us were I find out he is a avid cyclist. |

Title: Re: RBENT "Cruise" Ride, Sat May 30th Post by FlyingLaZBoy on May 29th, 2009, 6:39am Hey, Andy -- If you're riding the Corsa, ould you possibly bring the Speedmachine along as well (in your car?), so people could try it out after the distance rides are completed? If you can't, you can't... just a thought. I know I've never ridden one... Paul |

Title: Re: RBENT "Cruise" Ride, Sat May 30th Post by Patti on May 29th, 2009, 9:19am DANG IT! My boss scheduled me to work Saturday, 8-12. No ride for me. Fortunately, I only have one more week to work there, so it is the last time she can do this to me. [smiley=evil.gif] |
Title: Re: RBENT "Cruise" Ride, Sat May 30th Post by Capt Colletti on May 29th, 2009, 12:04pm Hello all, this is Capt Colletti I will be your leader for the slow ride tomorrow. Since I am familar with the North Dallas area I am planning on making some changes to the route that was posted earlier. It should still be about the same distance as the map. |
Title: Re: RBENT "Cruise" Ride, Sat May 30th Post by irodguy on May 29th, 2009, 3:29pm Well darn I am still sick. I though I was better than went to lunch today and was so tired I had to come back home and hit the hay. My friend Bob will be there on a df. He is planning on getting into Bents, so hopefully you guys can show him a variety of them. |
