First step for training is pf course to put on your ~20 spoke racing wheels.
Setup with no return idler to save a few precious grams.

Carry your 4.5 lb without tubes/tires rando wheels as a spare on your seat bag for when you taco your race wheels.
Carry spares tubes and tires because tacoing wheels tend to ruin them. Probably would have been better to have them premounted on the spare wheels for quick changes [smiley=thumbsup.gif]
Figure you need more weight so go to ***mart and put half a gallon of milk, 5 15 oz odwallas and a few other things completely filling the aerotrunk to the brim.
Oh and then you have to Carry a 5lbs lock to protect your spiffy wheels while in the store/
Head over to a really steep hill and just power up it a few times.
Go home and drink some odwalla  :)

No ice chest but I do have a reflectix sleeve in the front panel where I put the milk and I usually keep the water bladders in the summer. It keeps the water ice cold and after a couple hours I still actually have ice in there so works great for short grocery trips.
I probably will have dual ice chests mounted on my xtracycle for the big shopping days and if I can find another avid rollamajig for the local ride next weekend. Now that'll be some tough hill climbing for sure.

I'm a little surprised you're not encountering spoke problems....  Why not stay with the bombproof wheels, just for peace of mind?

Well that whole story would actually be
-Months ago washed the bike with soap/degreaser/water and lost tension in spokes all over
-Tensionmeter won't fit because spokes are too short
-Tightened by tone which I suck at which eliminated all but spoke ticking noise under power
-Finally fed up with it so switched wheels and took them to a pro
-Bike shop took a look and said they couldn't do better then I did and to just try lubing the nipples and crosses. Next step would be rebuild since they are unlaced and should be laced.

I put my "race" wheels on to get to/from the store thinking I'd leave my bombproof ones. On the way home went to ***mart and then hit some hills which with the added weight made for some good hill training. Carrying the bike up 3 steps into the house was alot harder then pedaling up the hills!

The only reason I have those ~20 spokers at all is the previous owner got them thinking they'd speed him up over the 4.5 lbs bombers. I have commuted on the low spoke wheels before and did that 330lbs test run with them this weekend and they faired really well. I don't feel confident to run them without a sag, at high speeds or to lean hard in turns so they will be off the bike before I commute tommorow.

Yeah unfortunately she has dual drive and discs front and rear so we can't share  :(

Stripped down to nothing my bike would still weigh more then hers in rando mode.
