Title: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by Bud_Bent on Mar 24th, 2009, 1:54pm I plan on riding the Magical Mystery Tour 200k permanent on Saturday morning, March 28th, and would love some company. This ride starts at the Lynn Creek Marina parking lot at Joe Pool Lake, and requires that you be a RUSA member. Pm me for the starting time. |
Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by Killer Bee on Mar 24th, 2009, 2:48pm Bud, our favorite hill awaits just outside of Maypearl ,that short steep hill-18%+ ,the one with the dog sitting at the top ,just waiting for tired cyclists. [smiley=happy.gif] |

Honestly, I had forgotten that this was the weekend for the Italy Brevets. No big deal. |

Oops, I did too. Would y'all rather ride Italy? |
Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by aikigreg on Mar 25th, 2009, 9:11am I'm wanting to ride the 300 if the weather is ok, but weather.com shows winds at 29mph. Wunderground at 18 :o I'm not sure I'll want to ride if it's more than 20mph. It was about 18mph this past Sunday when I rode, and that was enough. I wouldn't mind the Italy 200k at that speed, since it's flat, but at much more than that and we get into a situation like we had when we rode to Dixie's and back, when Steve had that nasty flat. |

We're up for a 200k, it really doesn't matter where we ride it from. It's going to be cooler on Sat. than normal. |

Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by Bud_Bent on Mar 25th, 2009, 11:20am Wow, that forecast does keep going downhill. Either route puts you going south first, which is good if it's cold with a north wind, but if it's really 39 degrees with a 20 mph north wind, I may not ride anywhere. I could change the ride to Sunday, but it's supposed to be even colder Sunday morning. Something shorter with a later start might work. [smiley=shrug.gif] |
Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by evblazer on Mar 25th, 2009, 11:32am Oh c'mon Italy rocks! the corn should look nice this time of year [smiley=grin.gif] As much as I love it it is too far for a 200k when I already have one this month. I'll probably try something early april to see if my knee is ok for a longer ride before becoming stranded on a 600k or something. Plus I gotta pack up this weekend to move my cubie. They told me last thursday they are moving me March 30th. 36 file cabinet drawers to pack so probably 100+ boxes? wheeeeeeeeeee. |

We don't need a 200K for March ,so if it's cold & windy ,I'm with you. |
Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by Kwijybow on Mar 25th, 2009, 1:32pm I'm not likely for anything this weekend, but leaning towards a 200K 4/4 for R12 insurance for April. Sharon mentioned Spanish Fort on the LSR board, so I might tag along on that one. If not I'll likely just ride one of my 200K's especially now that I can get mileage credit for repeats. Take Care, Nelson. |
Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by evblazer on Mar 25th, 2009, 1:47pm It was very exciting to see that announcement. Maybe I can get a cheeburger cheeburger R12/R2000 [smiley=evil.gif] |
Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by aikigreg on Mar 25th, 2009, 2:13pm No reason to drop the permanent. It's definitely closer for everyone involved. I'm going to email Coach Priott tonight, and if he wants me to do a fast 300, I'll do italy. If he wants me to do hills, I'll get plenty with y'all on MM. ..if that's ok with the permanent host! |

Greg, you might wanna re-think the 300k. From what I hear ,the new routes out of Italy(especially the 300K) are new routes & more importantly ,a lot more difficult(hilly) than previous 300k routes out of Italy(they head west to Gatesville, toward Ft.Hood). Just wanted to let you know. I don't care about hills. I don't want to ride in the cold/wind. |
Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by bikerteam on Mar 25th, 2009, 5:59pm Bud/Steve, I just watched the 6pm weather forecast. While Saturday is going to start off cold and cloudy, and not get much above 50, Sunday is suppose to start off cold, but be sunny with a high of 70. So how about if we ride this Perm on Sunday with a start time around 9am? |

I hate to start a 200k that late, especially on a Sunday. What does everyone else think? Any ideas? |
Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by bikerteam on Mar 25th, 2009, 6:52pm I'll start as early on Sunday as everyone desires. I have plenty of cold weather clothing I can take off as it warms up. |
Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by aikigreg on Mar 25th, 2009, 7:12pm 9 would be fine with me. Anything less than 11 hours keeps us in the daytime. Though maybe 8:30 would be better? |

Peggy & I are out for a Sunday 200K. But ,you guys go ahead. We don't have to have a 200/300k this month. |
Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by Bud_Bent on Mar 26th, 2009, 11:28am The forecast still sounds miserable, so I'll likely be pulling the plug on this ride. I do live near the start though, so if someone still wants to ride, I could bring waiver and cards to the start. I'll probably just see if Rose wants to get up at the crack of noon Sunday and do a short ride close to home, unless someone else has a better idea. |
Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by aikigreg on Mar 26th, 2009, 1:01pm I still need my 200k for the month, so if you don't mind, hold it for Sunday for me. |

Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by Killer Bee on Mar 26th, 2009, 9:28pm Yeah ,'cause Peggy & I are back to our candy a@$ rando mode. It's going to be too cold & windy for us. Looks like Sat. is a good day to be in the gym. |
Title: Re: Magical Mystery Tour 200k Permanent Post by aikigreg on Mar 27th, 2009, 9:27am Well, Sunday is looking better and better. Does anyone have Jerry's e-mail or phone? I can't access google groups from work, and I'll be here till 10-11pm. |
