Title: 21st Annual Freeze Your Fanny at Longview
Post by mleuck on Feb 7th, 2009, 5:18pm

Fun ride north of Longview Texas with maybe 200+ riders, I guess the freezing part cost extra since it was in the 70's today. I used to live in Longview so some of the roads seemed familiar. Not a bad ride although the last half had quite a few hills and it looks like I need a little more work on my climbing. I think I saw 6 other recumbents although I didn't know any of them.

One memorable incident involved outrunning a pace line of 20 riders, when will they learn?

59.4 miles
3 hours 7 minutes
2,940 feet total ascent
19.0 mph average

Wow, that's quite a bit of climbing for 59 miles. Better you on those hills than me!  ;D

It gives me an idea where I am leg-wise, I did almost that amount of climbing on Monday and tonight's ride so I'm getting there

You know I hear riding a heavier bike is great for training especially hills. Maybe you should try out my giro 26 all loaded up for a couple rides  ;D

Heck my Baron isn't exactly light, my guess is mid 30 pounds?

I wish there was drama, the lead cyclist pulled behind me when I blew past them and they stayed with me for a mile then kinda...dropped off

My guess is they were local Longview guys since Dallas riders tend to stay with me longer  ;D

That isn't light by some of these folks standards but it does mean it is less then half what I weighed my Giro 26 at one day after a commute   :-[
