Post by DallasBikr on Jan 14th, 2009, 2:56pm

Yep....its on!

Details as they become available.  March 7 is the target first date

Need 5 of you to make the category, or I lump you in with the old men ;)

Who is up for it?

Well make sure you take it easy. It looks like you are guaranteed 1st or 2nd for the series if you just show up and don't DNF. Since most of us are making other plans so we don't have to face the xstream for round one  ;)

Well it was May. I wish I was there in March I might have placed in the series and uhmm

Plus you were saying at the ride you felt like crap sooo I don't think a 14 second win balances against hte 5+ minute thrashing I took months later. I blame the asphault I ride much better in chipseal ;)

Post by Kwijybow on Jan 15th, 2009, 3:56pm

All I know is one of you guys better "Turn it on" and set a record under 30 minutes, preferably under 28. ;)

Take Care,
Nelson.

I elect anyone but me. I'll be happy if I can bust 35.  8-)

What's the fastest recumbent time?

Title: Re: Horse Country TT 2009
Post by robert.j on Jan 16th, 2009, 8:27am

I think Greg's 32 minute ride was the best recumbent showing.  Wish all you faster riders would show up for at least one of the rides and see if someone couldn't put up a sub 30 time with everyone to push them.

Title: Re: Horse Country TT 2009
Post by Kwijybow on Jan 16th, 2009, 9:53am

31:46 is the current recumbent record.  26:32 for P123 men,  28:49 for 4/5 men.

We need some speed!

Take Care,
Nelson.

Yup, I think the second time I rode the course on the Tica in '07 was when I hit the 31:46 mark.  I feel confident I could beat it on the carbent, but not break the 30 minute mark.  If I borrowed Brad's vk2 with the zipps it's possible though on that smooth new surface.

Soo who is going to pull the 25?

Title: Re: Horse Country TT 2009
Post by aikigreg on Jan 16th, 2009, 11:52am

I've done an under 32 minute run for sure in 2007, but either way, it was obviously not enough to hit your record.  I stand corrected and nicely done!

I elect Greg,   I'll be climbing hills in the Cleburne area into the wee hours of the morning.  Honestly I'm 10lbs over what I weighed when I did the record.  Also I'd just come off the LSR series and had raced a few crits.  So things were ticking over pretty well.  Now if I were to loose 30lbs that might help.  But seriously at age 45 this year I can safely say I'm at about double my peak age.  When I was 23 I weighed 142lbs (vs 185 now), benchpressed 350lbs (what's a benchpress?), and squated 500lbs (did some leg presses last year, don't know the weight, and really don't want to) and could do a 1:04 and change Kilo ( I think I was under 1:30 in November, but I might have been kidding myself).  But hey it continues to be a nice enjoyable ride down.  I certainly never did anything approaching the 200-600K's I like now with the randonneuring.

Take Care,
Nelson.

Read all of both pages, and still have no idea who is coming in March.  Sound off!

Either way, I'll give one group a 2 minute head start and then send off whoever does come.  Scored in your own category, but not started as such.

Cool?

If I can get a ride to the race, I'll ride in the race. Anyone else that enters is pretty much guaranteed to finish not last as I'm no racer and the Fusion punches a huge hole in the air. I'm just looking for a nice ride on good roads.

The best I did on that course(while training for the TT's with Ray & Peggy back in September)was a 32.30.

I wish I could but my ACP Brevet on March 7th is a priority.. Most everyone else who posted in the thread had planned on going to the Brevet or is injured save two.

Just so you know, I don't plan on entering the race again this year.  Last year was just so I could say I "raced."  I'm obviously not talented/committed enough to actually compete in these things!

You might see me for this one.  I'd like to see what kind of time I can pull with the carbent.

Just in case anyone was planning to come out, we've had to cancel the July event.

Thanks,
