Title: Southwest Frameworks Vintage Ride, Sun. 10/5 Noon Post by FlyingLaZBoy on Oct 2nd, 2008, 11:39am www.southwestframeworks.com. Break out the wool, find the hairnets, and air up the sew-ups, we've finalized plans for the first annual Retro Ride and Picnic! Details: Sunday, October 5, 2008, 12:00 noon Tee Pee Hill, White Rock Lake We originally scheduled this for 2:00 pm, but looked at the crowds on Sunday and decided it was better at 12:00 noon. This is more of a picnic with vintage bikes and their riders. The idea is to meet at noon at the pavilion at Tee Pee Hill, have lunch, then if anyone wants to, go for a few laps around the lake. There are two pavilions at Tee Pee Hill; one by the playground, the other on the other side of the road. We'll be at the one on the other side of the road. Just look for the banner. Southwest Frameworks will supply hot dogs, hamburgers, chili, homemade potato salad, cold drinks, and cookies. If you want anything else, feel free to bring it. I'm not sure if alcohol is permitted at the park. I'd like to get a head count so we don't run out of anything, so please let me know if you want to attend. It also might be fun to get a list of the bikes that will attend. Right now the plan is that Joanna and I will get to the picnic spot early to stake the claim. However, depending on the advanced headcount, we might opt to reserve the larger pavilion just to make sure there's enough room for everyone. We're also working on a t-shirt for the occasion. I'm sure it'll be a much sought after, highly collectible e-bay item soon after the event. I'm trying something different this time. Instead of just giving them away as I always do, I'm offering them for sale for the cost of printing them, which rounds up to $5.00 each. This will also go to help defray the cost of food for the picnic. If you're interested in the shirts please let me know so I can print enough of them. As I say, I've always given my shirts for free, so this is a new thing for me. I've received quite a few off-list replies so it sounds as if we'll have a pretty good turnout. I've also received some inquires about what "vintage" means in this context. I'll go by what Dale from Classic Rendezvous says. "....bicycles made from the early days of the Twentieth Century, up to 1983.” I think for our purposes, anything up into the late 1980's. Maybe 1990 but only if you promise to bring a dessert tray...If you have any questions about the vintagy (I think I just made up that word) of your bike, please ask!! I'll send out more information on the picnic, including a link to a poster Joanna is putting together. Feel free to forward any e-mails and links to others who may be interested in the picnic. The more vintage bikes the better! Let me know if you want to be taken off the list. Keep those old things on the road! Of course I mean the bikes... Also, PLEASE RSVP so we know how much food to bring.. Also, let me know if you want a shirt. They will be $5.00 each and I'll only print what I need. Title: Re: Southwest Frameworks Vintage Ride, Sun. 10/5 N Post by bikerteam on Oct 2nd, 2008, 12:18pm OMG - David built my custom Rando bike. It's the only bike commissioned with the "Trinity" logo. I didn't know they were hosting a ride. I'll be there, but I don't know where Tee Pee Hill is.... |

Yes, but at noon... and this isn't an "RBENT" function, it's something SWFrameworks is putting on. Paul |
Title: Re: Southwest Frameworks Vintage Ride, Sun. 10/5 N Post by Opus the Poet on Oct 2nd, 2008, 7:43pm Oh Goddess I need to get the 1983 Stratus fixed for this ride. Or maybe just Single-speeded? I have done a clockwise lap of WRL in one gear, ::) but there's no way I could go the other way around without gears. A vintage 'bent on the retro ride, that would blow some minds ;D |
