From what I heard today, there is four of us going to Cotton Patch. Me (Thomas )  Jerry (Cookie)  John S and Richard C. We are riding the 63 mls. I met a new guy today at WRL that just bought a Bachetta XL 2 week ago and he said that he might come too after I told him about the CP.He has seen this sight .His name is Grady Blount.
Take Care Thomas :)

there's a 200k this weekend.  It's my only chance to keep the r-12 alive, so I'm there.

I think Grady is the same guy who bought a Stratus XP 6 months ago...  Rick (PCF) told me he bought the B-bike recently.

*sigh*
I'll be truing my original giro 26 wheel and trying to get it round :'(

The new wheels I was so happy with and were doing so well just went back to the factory today. Poor mavic cross rides. Two spokes actually had 1" long splits at the rim that were 1/8" wide and 5 of them were cracked at the eyelets on boths sides. They may warrantee them since they are just 2 months old but if they can't last 2 months bah..
Not a single broken or loose spoke though!  ;D

Tommorow should be fun. I've ridding my road bike about 40 miles in the last 3 months. I'll be doing my 45 mile round trip commute on it  8-)

You busted up some cross rides?  How much do you weigh?  I have a set for my baron that I use as training wheels.

250 but I'm sorta convinced now that if I took the stelvios off once I found them harsh instead of riding them till I figured out what tires to get they wouldn't be dead or at least not so fast.
Actually the merlin ride went well (http://rbent.webhostingwholesale.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1221826588/0) so I may take it out this weekend to do some hill repeats on hilltop and some other bad hills.

Im about 210lbs+ and Im also running stelvios on my cross rides.  Before I purchased the cross rides I had Plano Cycling look up the max rated tire presure of the cross ride.  It was something modest like 80psi.   I run my stevlvios and max pressure (100psi) So maybe you (and me) are stressing out the wheels with the high pressure plus a lard-butt.

I heard Specialize FatBoy slick tires are really good:  http://www.specialized.com/bc/SBCEqProduct.jsp?spid=35708&eid=355

If I do the Cotton Patch, I'm planning on racing it on the DF.    If I don't do that, I'll try to log an intense 50-60 miles before I taper this week.

I eventually got kojaks 1.35sbut only put them on this week. The ride was alot more cushiony and just as fast or at least close enough for my purposes. I was holding out for the marathon supremes to come out in 1.6" but they don't arrive to november.

Hum I am 255 and running my Stelvios on the Strada at 125 PSI.  I am using stock wheels though, but no problems so far.

Thomas was right. If any of you lurkers out there want to ride with a moderate paced, friendly group, this is your chance. We have quite a few years among us, but we always enjoy the ride, and have some laughs too. Also, If your wife or lady friend (visa versa for pc) does not ride, the down town area, where the ride starts, has a fair of sorts with plenty to see and do while you ride.

It was probably a big combination of things not just the stelvios or even the stelvios at all. When I ran them on the stock wheels they were good but on the cross rides which are a tad wider and have less spokes at higher tension they rode really harsh. I carry up to 30lbs of gear on my commute and sometimes can't choose my path as carefully as I'd like on my commute. My more complete hypothesis would be if I had been running a wider tire it would have put less stress on the rim between more tire to cushion and lower overall tire pressure and that may have preserved the rim. Of course it could just be a defective rim or a few bad expansion joint incidents.
