Title: Tour de Argyle, Sat Oct 4 Post by FlyingLaZBoy on Sep 6th, 2008, 8:27pm Yes, it's right in most people's back yards!!!! This should be a good rally to get RBENTers out to -- nice roads, and local! Granted, many of you already ride this area for FREE... http://www.corinthcycling.com/ $25 entry through Sept 26th. |
Title: Re: Tour de Argyle, Sat Oct 4 Post by bikerteam on Sep 7th, 2008, 5:18pm Yup - Terry, Mark L. and I did this one last year. After about the first mile, you get to cimb "Hilltop", which many of you know. After that, the ride is a breeze! |

Title: Re: Tour de Argyle, Sat Oct 4 Post by evblazer on Sep 9th, 2008, 1:22pm I'm planning on going to the Texas Flyers meeting today where one of the items on the agenda is the Tour De Argyle Changes/Updates. I'm hoping they cover the reroute which puts us on a gravel(y)/rough road for a mile instead of a main road so I can pre-ride it. And I'll ask about the 100k loop. Christine (Shantar) and I plan on riding to/from the start to make it more of a day if we can wake up early enough. |
Title: Re: Tour de Argyle, Sat Oct 4 Post by evblazer on Sep 10th, 2008, 11:23am No updates that I was interested in anyhow. The only new info I found was that they had about 200 people last year and expect more this year. Should be water, some kind of drink (gatorade/poweraid) and oranges at the stops. Oh if you want to volunteer to run a stop or cornermarshal a out in the middle of no where stop sign let me know and I can get a number for you to call. Don't know where the reroute is that goes over a not so or if the 100k lap is there. If you were presigned up they sent an email out recently. This is what I hoped to get info on. "Thanks for signing up for the 2008 Tour de Argyle, we are looking forward to seeing you all and having a nice ride. I did want to get your feedback on the long route, as we are considering altering it a bit to get it closer to 61 or 61.5 miles. Would you like that and still ride it? Please respond. To make this longer route as safe as possible, we have routed it off of a main road and onto a much smaller road that has a short section of a little bumpy road and a short section of gravel road. My group and I ride this section all of the time, so we feel it is a safer alternative to a much busier road." |

It looks like the 100k will now avoid the "2nd lap" west of Argyle and instead they have a nub going through north from Argyle through the south part of Denton. |
