I'm doing this one since it's almost in my neighborhood.  I'm gonna turn my phone off too.  DJ

Mr Hyde,
Could you (or another Recumbent Minion)  supply a link to info about this Goat Neck ride?

Do any of you plan on racing?  I won the 10 mile sprint race last year in 22 minutes flat.  I may do the 27 mile race this year.  My 23 year old daughter and our two grandchildren will come for their first organized event, so I'm still undecided.  I may do the 10 mile race again, then go catch up with them, and my wife Angie, on the family portion of the ride.

EV ,Peggy & I will be there. You'll have the opportunity to ride UP Goatneck hill. During the TT's you'll get to ride DOWN Goatneck hill.
DJ ,it will be good to see you/ride with you again(last years TT's).

For those who are interesting in the race, it goes like this....

The 70 mile racers stage first, then the 70 mile rally riders.  They depart, then about 5 minutes later the 41 mile racers line up followed by the 41 mile rally riders.  They depart, then the 27 mile racers line up, etc., etc...

It is not a USCF race.  There is a lead vehicle, either a motorcycle or a SAG type truck.  They follow the race leaders for the entire race.

So if it's not USCF, can I race?

Depending on work I am going to try and make it. At least I'll get a partial peek at what the texas time trial course which shares sections with goatneck. I don't think I'll be doing any races with those speeds.

I'll be there! The picture of the hill must be skewed - it has to be harder than that!

Ken ,remind yourself at mile 50,after you've been baking in the sun & the climb starts. Goatenck hill is every bit as hard as any Muenster hill.

Greg,  line up toward the front. There will be plenty of riders doing mid to upper 20's.    I had a 27 average up to the first big hill last year.

Greg - yes, the race is open to any form of HPV.  I've about decided on the 27 mile race, somewhat replicating TTTT distance, however, the 27 mile route does not go around the TTTT course.  The ride's web site map appears to make a loop on the west side of town.  Regardless, I thrill at the though of hopefully riding in the back of a pack of DF riders, and as we approach the last 500 meters, hopefully I'll have enough in the legs to sprint out front...

So how do you sign up for the race - I can't find any info.

Greg, there is no signing up for the race, just the BAU rally registration.  Here's how it works....

The racers line up with the Rally riders, however the racers line up at the start line.  Both the racers and rally riders start together.  The 69 milers stage first, then the 41, then the 27, then the 10 milers.   A lead vehicle follows the front pace line throughout the race while the rally riders enjoy an easier pace.  There isn't any fanfare at the finish or any awards, just self satisfaction.  I did get my picture taken last year at the finish, but the results were not posted, nor was the picture.
