Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by Bud_Bent on Jul 21st, 2008, 11:39am If we ride in that, other riders are going to think we're the wounded heroes on the modified bikes... |
Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by Rawhide on Jul 21st, 2008, 12:32pm Thanks for posting Paul. I'll have to schedule off for this one. DJ |
Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by bikerteam on Jul 21st, 2008, 2:35pm This is the first I've heard of the ride Paul. Thanks. How about if we get as many bent riders as possible to all ride together (soft pedal, do ha hear me.... soft pedal everyone....) |

Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by bikerteam on Sep 2nd, 2008, 6:14pm I plan on doing the 100k as fast as possible. Who's going to join me? |
Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by Strada177 on Sep 2nd, 2008, 6:24pm Sorry ,but the Stradas' will be in San Fran. during this ride. Enjoy the ride. |
Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by robert.j on Sep 2nd, 2008, 9:17pm I'll be there if I'm not committed to a meeting at church (likely, unfortunately). Ray, I can't stay with you long, but I can at least say "go getum Ray" as you dissappear into the distance! |

Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by MrOverdressed on Sep 3rd, 2008, 9:50am Thus sounds limke fun! |
Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by Opus the Poet on Sep 4th, 2008, 2:07am I have to pass, with my scars I'll be mistaken for one of the "Heroes". |
Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by jman on Sep 6th, 2008, 5:17pm I came across Johnathan and some of his buddies in River Legacy today and they plan to make the ride as well as me. Not sure what miles are available but it's all great scenery so guess it doesn't matter too much. If Eddie joins us, we will most likely come over in his truck, if not, I'll just ride over from the house. |
Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by FooRider on Sep 6th, 2008, 8:59pm Cheryl and I are all over this one. I think she said there's supposed to be a bunch of handcyclists participating, so you lowracer guys should finally have some people to talk to at eye level! |

Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by bikerteam on Sep 9th, 2008, 5:50am Can we get a final count on who is riding this event? To my knowledge: Confirmed: Ray T. Mark L. Terry P. Robert J. Foo and Cheryl Unknown: D.J. - maybe Paul - ? Greg - ? Nelson - ? Who else? I'll probably ride the 100k, starting off riding a tempo, TTTT like 20 mile as fast as possible. Then slow down and meet and greet the special guests. Let's all be good ambassadors for recumbent riders. Please note the following from the web site: Events such as the Patriot Pedal, that are designed to encourage and support participation by our wounded soldiers, can be as appreciated and beneficial to their lives as the equipment the Fund provides. This is why several local and flown-in special guests will be riding along side us with their modified equipment. Be sure and meet these amazing people. And again, ALL proceeds from the rally go directly towards helping make the lives of our severely injured soldiers just a little more like what they were used to. |

Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by robert.j on Sep 10th, 2008, 8:48pm Looks like my meeting at church is on, so I at least won't be at the start. Maybe will run in to some of you guys out on the road as I'll be on my bike somewhere in the area by 10:00 or so. Have a great ride for a great cause! |
Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by evblazer on Sep 11th, 2008, 8:05am http://www.patriotpedal.com/ On the map page they have a link to google maps with the whole thing drawn out with stops now. Depending on the rain situation I may head down. I forgot what day today was and left my flag at home. Maybe I'll be able to run it Saturday since I'll be going slow anyhow. If I go I'll probably ride down and try and make a century out of it. |
Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by Patti on Sep 11th, 2008, 9:13am Considering the weather, they may have to change the name to "Patriot Paddle". |
Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by evblazer on Sep 11th, 2008, 9:24am Many recumbents are perfect for riding through flooded roads. Last year I rode my Giro 26 through some really deep water and all important components were well out of the water. On my old road bike I have paddled through water that wasn't half as deep ;) Now if some of those lowracers show they might be swimming ;D |
Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by Rawhide on Sep 11th, 2008, 10:06am I can't make it due to unexpected work commitments, which happen again and again. On the other hand, I was successful in scheduling vacation to volunteer on Friday out at the TTTT. DJ |
Title: Re: Patriot Pedal in Southlake, Sat Sept. 13 Post by MrOverdressed on Sep 12th, 2008, 7:51am I will be there. But due to the threat of rain I was thinking about rolling my Rans Rockets (has fenders) rather then the baron. |
