Title: Sunday's Mineral Wells rail-to-trail ride
Post by richardr on Apr 14th, 2008, 12:25pm

We had a great ride!

Vicky and I met Rod at the Golden Corral, Weatherford. We all arrived early, which was nice.  I ate more than I should have, which is the problem with buffets.

We were on the trail before 1.  It takes a little time to set up our trikes, because we have to remove the seats to fit them in the Mazda5.  Rod just takes his out and he was ready to go.  The trail was in perfect condition.  It is hard packed finely crushed gravel.  The trikes hardly leave tracks.  We were behind some horses for a short period of time, but they moved off the path and let us pass.  We were flying flags from the trikes, which I found out from the horse-woman spook the horses.  We rode about 11 miles, to Garner where we turned around.  All the grades on the trail are about 2%, but the climbs are long.  The initial 4 miles is an up grade, which was greatly appreciated on the return trip.

Any photos???

Look on bentrideronline for an article by Larry Varney about good ways to carry a camera on a trike...

Now I know why one of my bents spooks the horses. Only one has a flag.
Thanks
