Title: Lancaster Rally
Post by FlyingLaZBoy on Apr 12th, 2008, 9:46pm

Comparatively speaking, we had excellent weather for the Lancaster Ride this year, although the north wind made it tougher the later in the day you were riding.  It was good to see all the RBENTers out there, and I heard a lot of fun comments about the " 'bent lineup " at the Palmer stop...

Hope everybody had a worthwhile day -- let's hear some comments!

I really enjoyed the ride. The wind wasn't really bad and the temperature was perfect. There are sections of this ride that look just like the hill country. An excellent choice of roads overall. Enough climbing to keep it interesting but some good downhills to add to the fun. The dogs on the route were the most laid back I've ever seen - I think someone must have sedated them all before the ride started.

It was good to see so many bents at the ride. I got to see some folks I haven't seen since last year.

The route was a good one.  There were hills, down-hills, wind, great temperatures, and most of all, Asian Camels, regular camels, and zebras.  The country-side had blue bonnets and other wild flowers.  I had a great time and enjoyed lunch afterwards.  What a great down-town square.

Many thanks to GDB for putting this on. I did the 45 miles and had a great time and a good workout!

Alexis said she had a blast riding with you all, and to have such a group riding together is even better, in my opinion.  Y'all should make it happen more often.  And Dianna - get those other ladies signed up on here!

Preliminary count puts the ridership at somewhere between 1000 and 1200....  We ran out of food and Gatorade at Palmer about 30 minutes before the last riders came through.

I am glad everyone had a great time. We had no serious accidents  and most of the riders made cyclists look to the community. It was nice to have lunch with all the ladies after the ride. Sorry I couldn't actually ride with everyone but was glad I could help in the communication field for the event. The B&B bike truck stayed busy fixing flats the last half of the ride and one guy had to have a shoe pedal clip repaired  ;D
Next Sat is the Marc h of Dimes 5mile walk in Dallas and Ft.Worth, I will be working at the one at White Rock Lake and plan to ride after the short event is over. So if any of you want to ride with me at the lake Sat afternoon, give me a buzz on my cell letting me know where you would like to meet up. These events are usually over a little after 12 noon, so come on down  :)

Great ride.  Perfect weather.  I did the 42 miler.  This was my longest ride to date.  Previous best was 26 miles.  Needless to say I was one tired puppy.  Near the end of the ride we had to hop over a set of RR tracks to get back into town.  All I could think was...aw, crap another hill. :P  Riding next to John all day was lots of fun and a great help.

That looks like Deb. I don't know her last name, but I met her on the MS 150 last year. She was supposed to ride with our MS 150 team this year but was having some physical problems and had to bow out.

I did the 60-mile 63.85-mile route. Aside from the fact that I can't seem to climb worth a crap this season, it was a great ride. Perfect weather and pretty wildflowers. I didn't get to ride with any of the RBENT'ers except (briefly) Ken and Mark, but I enjoyed seeing some GDB'ers I hadn't seen in a while.

You can see Bobbie in some of the photos.  She was wearing pink and you cant iss her fluffy hair.   Bonbbie rode her vintage Shwin road bike.   That was Sharon on the Tandem.  You once meet her at a ride from Joe Pool Lake in 2006.  We all had lunch together afterward.  I had a different stoker babe on friday saturday and sunday!   I like them fresh, since I dont pedal much.

This was one of the better rides I have been on.  The route was good the roads where good.  The weather was a little cool but tolerable.   I liked the rest-stops in the town squares.  The scenery was outstanding.  The farms reminded me of bicycling in Wisconsin.  Everything was spring-green and the wild flowers where beautiful.  Oh!  I cant forget about the beautiful biker babes,  the blessing of their appearance was credited to them being randoneering  orphans.

That camel! Now I know and you weren't babbling. Most of the time when I ride in the Lancaster area (all 2 times) I don't see the camel.

The rally route was changed this year to go past the exotic animal farm and keep people off of the 2-lane / no shoulder stretch of 813 just outside of Palmer.
