Ray and I also had a very pleasant day of riding today. Fortunately no rain materialized, although it did mist a little once or twice. The overcast day kept it feeling cool, but the winds were light, and helping a little on the first half. 2nd half the wind picked up only slightly so not a terrible headwind. Ray and I spent lots of time gabbing on the bike and off at controls so rolled in at a leisurely 10 hour time, but we actually rode fairly briskly between controls, taking an exorbitant 2 hours off bike time total. Dixie's Little Stop is worth a slow time though, We had the club sandwiches and split a piece of pecan pie, mmm, mmm good! I think I had 8:06 for an indicated 131.75 miles. Ray and I are planning to ride the GP2CLE perm out of Joe Pool Lake on 04/12, leaving at 0800, always good to have company, I'll make an announcement as soon as I get it confirmed.

There was a large group riding the 600K and I couldn't believe the speeds they were holding. They actually had to wait a minute to sign in at the first control because they go there too early. That's 30kph with 350miles left to ride!

Is there *any* way i can convince you guys to do it on Sunday the 13th? I'll happily go with you then!

Hi Greg,

I'm sorry about the 13th Greg, Ray and I are both pretty involved with Church on Sunday. Also the family day here on the homefront.

There's no reason you couldn't do a perm on the 13th though, that might be more agreeable to some people's schedules. We'll miss riding with you though!

Nelson & Ray...congrats on a successful ride. Peggy & I are were thinking about guys today. Dixie's is the best !! Those sandwiches/pies are so welcome after 90+ miles on the bike.

I'm pretty close to 100%,so the 12th sounds good to me. 600K?!! Insanity! I'll stay in the "baby pool"-200K for now.

I agree with Nelson. At the 2nd control we had something like a 17mph average and could have pushed harder. We waited for a couple slower riders at the controls, and would ride with them for a while until the first downhill then blast off.

The most fun is that we both had enough gas in the tank to race for all the country and city limit signs. Nelson got the best of me on a majority of the signs. this time. ;D It did feel great, to be able to sprint for 100-200 yards when we had ridden 110-120 miles.

Greg, it is difficult for me to plan rides on Sundays. We're very involved in church activities, and afterwards, Angie I spend the day with our grown children and grandchildren.

Peggy and Steve - it would be great if you could join us. The GP2CLE is one of the flatter routes. Until I can get my lung nodule issue determined, my lungs burn when I push the heart rate much above 135. That's probably the only reason Nelson beat me on the sprints to the city limit signs (but only by a fraction of a tire width). ;D

Ray ,sorry to hear about the lung issue. What does GP2Cle stand for? We'll be there. Sorry to hear Greg can't make this one. Bummer!

correct.... this Permanent departs from Joe Pool lake. Specifically:

Grand Prairie, TX

Anyone wanting to ride an easy 200k, please let Nelson know as he is hosting this LSR Permanent.

I'll double verify with Bill, this was a 200K last year, and the RUSA (official!) site lists it as a 200K. Bill mentioned one of the controls had changed but not that it had been shortened by 72K. I think the confusion may come from the fact that this is listed as *Route* 128 and a mixup occured putting it on the local permanents page. I boneheadly left the waiver at the house this morning, but will take it tomorrow and fax it to Bill from work.

Greg that would be SWEEEETT! By the way ,the "Killer B" jersey fits perfectly. I wore it Sunday during a MS-150 training ride.

The GP to Cleburne is definitely a 200K -- it was the first one I did, in early 2007. There's a tough incline section going into Cleburne, but it's definitely not bad, overall. When we did it, we had strong south winds, so had a good tailwind home, and we were sprinting at 35 mph across the JPL bridge at the end of the ride!!!
