Indoor winter riding
Nov 17th, 2014, 2:32pm

Well, I finally succumbed to the lure of an indoor trainer... Found a fluid version for ~$100 at Performance... Terrie got it for me for my birfday - and even allowed me to set it up INSIDE, upstairs...   Here are a couple pic of the initial setup, although I've changed it a bit, adding a side table for laptop and stuff...  and I actually even USED it twice over the weekend!!!

Poor X-Stream, relegated to a rear wheel trainer...

Personally, I prefer more terror and excitement for indoor training.

This is my winter training. I just don't ride when there is ice. People give me plenty of room, they think I am crazy! I know I am! Don't have to worry about dogs.

I tried the indoor training in the basement. Not fun to me. I get too bored. I try and ride year round when possible outside. Plus, when it starts to snow, you have a good motivation to keep the pedal rpm's up!

Happy birthday.

Rollers are my first love, too.  I have to invent a treadmill style trainer for trikes.

I would need a larger room to ride rollers, and a lower deductible on my medical insurance. Giving away my Kreisler rollers probably extended my life by several years...

Yo Paul,

Do you think the trainer does anything funky to the frame? I dare say Randy did not design the frame for the specific tension a trainer puts on it. I don't know if it is any worse than a pot hole. But it's winter, cold, and raining - and I am bored.

Here is a photo of my setup, even though the bike just isn't quite right.

The course profile on the bottom of the video actively controls the CycleOps Powerbeam, and there are some rather annoying climbs I can use.

Rocket is my coach.
